Balanced?

As you all know kids asked the best of questions.

Haziq asked me this one day.

When we are being hisab in front of Allah on yaumul akhirah, what would happen if our mizan of the good deed and bad deed is balanced? Where would Allah put us? Hell or paradise?

Hmm tough one.

I'll give you my answer first (because I can) and you can assist me with yours ok? I am no scholar nor am I a student of knowledge. So if you have better answers I'd really love to hear them so we all can benefit towards remembering Allah. May we all have increase in taqwa.

Hmm truly in the end, for anyone to enter Paradise is solely upon Allah's mercy. Allah, Maliki Yaumiddin, the Owner/ Lord of the judgment day and on that day, all decision will belong to Him only. (Al Infitar 82: 19). We are in dire need of His mercy.

Secondly, my dear son.

You do know that for every good thought or intention that you have, that itself will be rewarded as one good deed. Just a thought of doing something good, and you will be rewarded. Indeed He is the Most Merciful.

And and and, if you actualise the thought and turn it into action, Subhanallah, you will be rewarded in the range of 10-700 and even more rewards. A good deed in the month of Ramadhan will be doubled. A good deed in Masjidil Haram will be rewarded as 100,000. A good deed in Madinah Munawarrah will be rewarded 1000. A good deed in Aqsa (May Allah give them victory. May Allah make the ones who died for His sake a martyr) is rewarded as 500. And there are special last ten nights in Ramadhan. Special first ten days of Dzulhijjah. You will be rewarded for your sincerity. And so on and so on. Allah knows best. Allah is the Most Merciful.

However, for every bad thought or bad intention that you have, there won't be any demerit for you. The pen on the left is still lifted. Even how bad the thought is. And if you did not actualise the deed, you will be rewarded for it. However, if you actually do the bad deed, you are given a few hours (is it 6?) to repent. Sincere repentance with remorse, Insya Allah will be forgiven. If one does not make repentance, the bad deed is written as one. Contrast this to the reward of good deed of 10-700 or more. Subhanallah! Allah is Most Merciful.

But as long as you are still alive, Subhanallah, you can always make repentance. And Allah the one who is Most Forgiving and the One who loves to forgive, will forgive you and erase the sins. And if one follows up the repentance with a good deed, more sins will be converted into good deeds. Subhanallah. Allah is Most merciful.

And Subhanllah, for every pain you are afflicted with, even if it is a prick of a thorn, is an expiation of sins if you are patient. (Oh Allah help me to be among of those who are patient).

Do not forget also that some small sins are erased during your wudhu', for every fard prayer, umrahs and hajj. And again there are times dua' is most maqbul. There is the one third of the last night to wake up (subhanallah this is hard) and seek forgiveness. And even when one dies, the dua' of their righteous child and also their good deeds that are carried out by people, are working for them. Subhanallah your nvestments are working for you when you are dead. One may find oneself in front of Allah full of sins and then watch His sins disappear before him. Then Allah tells him that when you are dead, your children prayed for your forgiveness. Subhanallah. Allah is the Most merciful.

So Haziq, since you love maths, let's just do some simple maths here. If one finds themselves with a balanced mizan on yaumul akhirah, don't you think that shows that he lived his life in dunya full of making more bad deeds than the good ones? Perhaps forgetting to seek forgiveness from Allah? Let us seek refuge in Allah from that.

So for you, my son (and me), let's just concentrate on doing good deeds, doing what Allah tells you to do, staying away from what He forbids, seeking His forgiveness for our wrong that we know and that we don't know. Fear Him. Have hope in Him.

Oh Allah we ask you for your Mercy.
We ask Allah to make us amongst those who reach Jannah.
Ameen.

To make the Heart Tender (Ar-Riqaq)
Bukhari :: Book 8 :: Volume 76 :: Hadith 498

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

The Prophet narrating about his Lord I'm and said, "Allah ordered (the appointed angels over you) that the good and the bad deeds be written, and He then showed (the way) how (to write). If somebody intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then Allah will write for him a full good deed (in his account with Him); and if he intends to do a good deed and actually did it, then Allah will write for him (in his account) with Him (its reward equal) from ten to seven hundred times to many more times: and if somebody intended to do a bad deed and he does not do it, then Allah will write a full good deed (in his account) with Him, and if he intended to do it (a bad deed) and actually did it, then Allah will write one bad deed (in his account) .

saje nak tambah kepanjangan entry nih hahaha

did you know that it's not just the deeds that are weighed, but also the books and the body of the person?

did you know that only the muslims are weighed? as mercy from Allah; He's giving us an opportunity to earn jannah through this, rather then sending us straight to hell.

we only enter jannah by the mercy of Allah. our deeds can never be deserving of jannah. and there are people with lots of bad deeds but Allah forgives them and they enter jannah even though their bad deeds must've outweighed their good deeds.

sometimes there is no answer for our questions. sometimes we don't need an answer. only dwell on things that would increase our iman.

say, there is no answer to find about what will happen if our mizan is equal. we just have to try to make the good deeds more then.

Oh teringat cerita the guy that killed 99 men. Dia tanya ulama, will God accept his taubat. The ulama said Allah is Most Forgiving. Pastu .. err tak ingat.

Anyway, the guy died on crossroad between kampung dia dengan town (was it?). Malaikat tanya should he be treated as ahli syurga or not.

Lepas malaikat kira distance, rupanya sama! So what did Allah swt do? Allah gerakkan bumi supaya jenazah lebih dekat dengan kampung. :)

Itu orang yang pernah bunuh 99 orang ya. Allah Maha Pengampun kan.

Can't remember from which story this was, but definitely from Anwar Al-Awlaki. I'm not good at story telling tho.

Actually, this is a thousand-year old question. Theologians of distant past has debated on this and has actually named a place for whom the timbangan is "balanced". It is called al-manzilat baina al-manzilatain (a place between two places). Actually it is a little bit more than "balanced" yakni it is on those yang berdosa besar which is not mukmin (i.e. suci bersih bermutu) and not kafir (well you know kafir). But the gist is the same. Neither here nor there.

Theological debate is good but wasting time. Better to concentrate on helping people, doing good, and serve God. The rest are just superficialities.

One thing I realized about Islam is that it is never black and white. The line dividing good and evil is blurred, thick, bold lines which everyone crosses over once in a while. Even a sheep separated by a fence will still stretch its head through the fence to munch on the green grass on the other side.

Aku terer.

hoyeh nota tambahan!!

diana - kena complain kat google ni. dia kena buat satu buzz button kat comment box ni.

aliya - i will selitkan to him also about the part yg eh banyak no lah nota tambahan. I will selitkan him these notes.

Whenever I think and reflect back that we will only enter Jannah with Allah's mercy, I rasa takut sangat. Oh Allah we are all in need of your mercy.

rotidua - dah ok dah cerita kau tu. Cuma the first time he asked an alim, that alim was angry at him and told him that it is impossible Allah will forgive him that he has killed 99. So he killed that alim too making it 100. It's the next alim who told him that Allah is Most forgiving and that he will forgive if you seek for it. He also advises the man to leave the place and seek a new place so he can start new.

Macam2 morale kita boleh ambik dari cerita ni. Subhanallah.

Anyway what you just narrated is a hadith. Good for you

The Book Pertaining to Repentance and Exhortation to Repentance Kitab Al-Tauba)
Muslim :: Book 37 : Hadith 6662

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: There was a person before you who had killed ninety-nine persons and then made an inquiry about the learned persons of the world (who could show him the way to salvation). He was directed to a monk. He came to him and told him that he had killed ninety-nine persons and asked him whether there was any scope for his repentance to be accepted. He said: No. He killed him also and thus completed one hundred. He then asked about the learned persons of the earth and he was directed to a scholar, and he told him that he had killed one hundred persons and asked him whether there was any scope for his repentance to be accepted. He said: Yes; what stands between you and the repentance? You better go to such and such land; there are people devoted to prayer and worship and you also worship along with them and do not come to the land of yours since it was an evil land (for you). So he went away and he had hardly covered half the distance when death came to him and there was a dispute between the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment. The angels of mercy said: This man has come as a penitant and remorseful to Allah and the angels of punishment said: He has done no good at all. Then there came another angel in the form of a human being in order to decide between them. He said: You measure the land to which he has drawn near. They measured it and found him nearer to the land where he intended to go (the land of piety), and so the angels of mercy took possession of it. Qatada said that Hasan told him that it was said to them that as death approached him, he crawled upon his chest (and managed) to slip in the land of mercy.

Anyway some more variation to the end of the story.

The Book Pertaining to Repentance and Exhortation to Repentance (Kitab Al-Tauba)
Muslim :: Book 37 : Hadith 6664

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Qatida with the same chain of transmitters but (with this variation of wording):" Allah commanded the earth (from where) he wanted to come out to move itself away and to the other earth (where he wanted to go) to draw nearer."

siapa lah kita nak lepas dari dosa.... even nabi2 pun tak terlepas, kisah Nabi musa a.s killed someone in surah Toha, Nabi Yusuf a.s, have some feeling towards bini orang, in surah Yusuf, etc.

Exceptionnya, Allah menjaga mereka, and kalau silap dapat immediate warning/verdict. Untuk jadi orang yg dijaga Allah, kita kenalah cari Allah.

On top of that, macam u ckp, kita kenalah concentrate buat baik and have thoughts of buat baik all the time. Pernah dengar satu ayat Quran, yang perbuatan baik boleh menghapuskan dosa-dosa kecil...tapi tak ingat kat surah mana. If you can help?

pastu pastu (eceh ceh nak menambah jugak ni, walaupun tak delah terrer).

Kan ada cerita pasal orang yang scale dia balanced, pastu malaikat tanya "who will vouch for him?" or something like that, and his eyes answered, telling of nights spent awake for tahajjud, tears flowing from remembering Allah. And that saved him.
I cannot quote hadith/seerah. Read it somewhere.

that's a really good answer to haziq. the part where committing more sins than deeds.
